In
CBA's experience, successful cost control does not mean poorly
designed buildings.
Quality
can always be achieved through a combination of teamwork,
good communication and a determination to achieve value for
money.

If we
are doing our job correctly we should be acting as an almost
invisible lubricant, allowing the project to keep moving ahead
without interruption. But no project is ever completely free
of problems and problem-solving is an integral part of our
role.
The experience
of our own specialists allows us to anticipate most of the
pitfalls - practical or financial - which are peculiar to
different types of project. When they do occur, however, we
are quick to assess their impact and take the necessary steps
to resolve them.
Most
often, problems arise because of a breakdown in communication
or disruption in the flow of information. Poor on-site performance
is the inevitable consequence of leaving them unresolved.
At this
point it's our job to re-state the parameters of our cost
and contract documentation - and in this respect, particularly,
our role is a pro-active one.
We don't
wait to be asked. We move swiftly and, through effective negotiation,
keep the wheel turning so that everyone else can get on with
the actual business of design and construction.
