CBA were appointed to provide Quantity Surveying services on the conversion of the existing assembly hall to form a new facility to serve the Erskine Stewart’s Melville Schools.
Excavation was carried out below the original ground floor level to provide a multi-purpose, sunken performance space with steel galleries on three sides. The assembly hall is at the centre of the school and it was not possible to extend it either laterally or upwards.
Retractable seating provides seating on three sides of a raised stage. Acoustic partitions enable the auditorium to be divided into three separate performance / teaching areas. The hall accommodates 580 and can be configured to a smaller auditorium with seating for 300. |
